The 5 Etsy Makers You Need to Favorite Right Now for Christmas
If you’ve been in the wooden toy world for any length of time you know that preparation is half the battle in stocking your toy shelves. Those who prepare the most for holidays, wind up being the least disappointed. Online, Christmas discussions begin as early as September. “Do you know if Danny & Luca is getting a Maileg restock between now and December?” “Is The Wooden Wagon ever going to get a proper Grimm’s restock?” “Did you hear Myers is releasing hidden orange and black rainbows for Halloween?” That last one I made up.
Anywho, small shop makers usually have a longer turn-around time. That whole “made by hand” thing takes longer than factory made toys. Keeping that in mind, I’m doing a “Christmas Advice in July” article! The best advice that I can give new wood toy converts is to buy when stock is available and stash as long as you can. Those who started hunting for Nuggets and Neds after Thanksgiving last year will certainly agree.
Without further ado, and in no particular order, here are the makers that I think will be busy beyond belief as Fall draws closer!
Oliveyouandlou
You’ve heard me talk about this mama maker for a bit and there’s a reason why. Her color palette is positively epic! Her radiant hues and playful designs have skyrocketed her store to be one of the most in demand wooden toy makers this year. It also helps that she’s one of the nicest people, I have ever met. From convos about potty training to her creating heirlooms for our home, Karah is the real deal. Don’t forget, at this store, PEARLS10 will get you 10% off!
Things We Love: Color Wheel – Perfect for color sorting or as a play base!
Mirus Toys
Run by Suba Jagannathan out of Vancouver, WA, Mirus Toys is the go-to for educational wooden toys. Her attention to detail and heavy emphasis on STEM has earned her a top spot on our list.
Things We Love: Animal Tracks Play Dough Stampers – a great way to introduce a woodland habitat!
ChickadeesWoodenToys
An oldie but a goodie – Chickadees has cemented themselves as one of the largest makers in the industry. Run by Becky Williams , she has expanded her product line to include play dough, as well as sensory kits. She really is a one stop shop for finding something to help you with those long summer vacation car rides! Don’t forget! At this store “PIEDMONTPEARLS” will get you 10% off!
Things We Love: The Big Tree – Aside from it’s pretend play uses, it is a gorgeous addition to building play or for storing a collection of wooden birds.
MyBigWorldPlayscapes
Melanie Shanks and her little creations are a wonder to behold, but where she really steals the show is with her playscapes. From luscious beaches to hidden jungles, your little one’s world is full of possibilities.
Things We Love: Set of 6 Playscapes – An epic deal for the money. It sees a lot of use around here.
SensoryPlay
With over 5,000 sales, Magda’s store is a valuable treasure trove of wooden toys that will fascinate your little ones. Already well established in wooden toy circles online, Magda’s Etsy storefront continues to produce new and exciting toys. SensoryPlay is giving our readers 10% off with code “PEARLS”!!!
Things We Love: Interchangeable Seasonal Tree – a beautiful way to mark the passage of time throughout the year!
